Lightning Penalties Hurting All Phases of The Game

A site all to common for Lightning fans this year

12.5 Penalties for minus 117.5 yards - That is what the Legacy football team is averaging through the first 4 games of the year. A season high of 17 (-164 yds) in the season opener against Mountain Range can be partially excused as opening game jitters, but the Lightning have continued the trend with 10 (-87 yds) against Ft. Collins, 12 (-104 yds) in a loss to Rocky Mountain, and 11 (-115 yds) last week against Northglenn.

Penalties have cost the Lightning in all areas: Special Teams- 2 TD's on punt returns called back, Offense- numerous critical drives stalled, and Defense- given their opponents new life at inopportune times.

Coach Voorhees and the Lightning staff are going to have stress discipline as we move into the second half of the season, with tough league games against Boulder, Fairview and Poudre looming over the next several weeks the Lightning will need as many of those 117 yards back as possible...
